Late Autumn Serenades

October

Welcome to my latest online newsletter.

This month started with a real baptism of fire following a desperate last minute plea from the band leader of Frankly Sinatra at Princess Theatre Torquay. Arriving at the stage door with literally half an hour to spare before the start of the show, the performance was challenging but also most exhilarating and I am looking forward to working with these excellent musicians again at some point in the future. This month’s photo was taken five minutes before curtain up!

Sunday lunchtime jazz dates at The Headland Hotel Newquay, have restarted and are currently Sax/Piano duos providing another chance for you to hear Sarah and I at this beautiful hotel every Sunday until Christmas. Indeed, as a duo, we have been incredibly busy in recent weeks and are delighted to have been asked once again to provide the music for the upcoming Cornwall Tourism Awards 2017 to be held at The Headland Hotel in November. We also recently performed at The Imperial Hotel Torquay, where we were looked after extremely well by the friendly staff and really enjoyed the surroundings of this art deco hotel, expecting Poirot to walk through the door at any time!

My residency at The Budock Vean continues as normal throughout the autumn months and once again, there are a few extra sessions, so keep an eye on the Bookings page as this is regularly updated with any last minute additions.

Afternoon gigs around the care homes of Cornwall also continue and are proving to be a most rewarding experience. I was privileged to play with Elisabeth Holman from Occasion Strings at Tregolls Manor in Truro and look forward to further performances there over the coming weeks, whilst continuing with my solo performances at Longview Care Home also in Truro.

Another new venture in November sees me performing a solo set at The Beehive Tea Rooms in Bodmin on Saturday 9th December from 7.30.p.m. I am hoping that this may well lead to further engagements at this beautiful little venue, anyway more details on this nearer the time. Indeed, I am currently organising what is turning out to be a hectic December schedule with currently over twenty bookings already secured for the Christmas period, so watch this space!

Finally, I am currently exploring a new collaboration of original material with an extremely talented local musician. We are both very excited about the possibilities and hope to be able to disclose further information about this in my next newsletter.

That is about all the news for now.

Hope to see you at a future gig.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
