Summertime………and the living is busy!

August News.

Welcome to my latest online newsletter. As this month’s photo suggests, the summer season is in full flow. Amongst other venues, Sarah and I are currently in the middle of a three month residency at The Headland Hotel Newquay. We be can heard there on any Wednesday evening until the end of August, where you can grab a bite to eat or simply have a drink whilst you watch the spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic ocean.

August will also see my first involvement at the Bude Jazz Festival for many years. Along with an appearance in the band ‘Hot Banana’ at The Falcon Hotel on Saturday 26th August, I will also be working in a duo with Kevin Grenfell on Trumpet and Vocals at The Carriers Inn on Tuesday 29th.

I was thrilled to accept a recent invitation to play with The Swing Empire on a number of corporate gigs in the coming months and am looking forward to playing with these excellent musicians during the year.

The Gin and Jazz evening at The Penventon Park Hotel in Redruth on the 9th June was a huge success. Kimberly and I received some delightful comments and have been invited back on 15th September. We have also been asked to make another appearance at this year’s Playfest 2017 in Truro on 3rd August. Details of times etc will be posted on their website nearer the date. I was also really pleased to help out my friend Jeremy Huggett at The Old Duke in Bristol with a last minute booking earlier in the month am looking forward to a return visit later in the year.

July also saw me return to a little piano teaching. It was with renewed enthusiasm that I was able to pass on some advice on jazz improvisation to a sixth form student and look forward to working with this highly motivated young man further in the coming months.

As mentioned last month, I have now set up my own You Tube channel where I will be posting live videos from some of my upcoming gigs. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, please feel free to do so. Any new subscribers would be most welcome to. As always, my diary continues to fill and the Bookings page is regularly updated, so please feel free to take a look. There are also regular last minute updates and latest photos on my Facebook page so if you haven’t ‘liked’ it please feel free to do so.

That is about all the news for now.

Hope to see you at a future gig.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
