Autumn Serenades

Welcome to my latest online newsletter.

This month has certainly given me a chance to catch my breath as things have quietened down, after a very busy summer. There have, nonetheless, been some special moments during the last few weeks. Not least of these being the October Jazz Jam at The Old Bakery where another capacity crowd produced a most enjoyable afternoon of varied jazz styles. This month’s photo was taken during the finale when many of the jammers came on stage to perform a version of ‘Summertime’. Arguably our busiest and most successful jam session to date, we are very excited about the final one of the year due to take place on December 1st. Once again we are extremely grateful to the venue for arranging and hosting these events and look forward to more in the New Year. The next Jazz Lounge at the Bakery is on 16th November. Sam, Keith and I will be joined by my old friend, Saxophonist Paul Haywood who will both singing and playing in a number of styles. As always these events are likely to be very busy so an early booking is recommended. Tickets are now available here . I’m sure this will prove to be another most entertaining night.

A few days later on 20th November there will be another opportunity to hear my Blue Note Ensemble, celebrating eighty years of the iconic record label. In a change of venue , we will now be performing at Chycara Carnon Downs. Tickets for the event are now on sale and available here . It is great to have another opportunity to play some of our favourite Blue Note melodies and we are all really excited about the gig.

Looking slightly further ahead, The Bakery Little Big Band will be backing local singer Tom Cary who will be performing many tunes from his Michael Buble tribute show. An ideal event to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. More news on this along with other festive gigs that are currently in the planning stage, will be available in next month’s newsletter.

Sunday lunchtime duo gigs at The Headland Hotel continue from 1-3pm up until 22nd December and as always, I remain resident at The Budock Vean Hotel making a number of appearances during the week. Be sure to check out all my gigs at the Bookings page as this continues to be regularly updated with any last minute engagements.

That is about all the news for now.

I hope to see you at a future gig.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
