I Hear A Rhapsody…..Or Two!

April

Welcome to my latest online newsletter.

The recent Ella and Billie tribute at The Old Bakery Studios featuring Sylvia McEwan along with Bob and Selena from A Jazz Affair was another great success and completely sold out. This month’s photo was taken on that most enjoyable evening. You can see some video highlights of the event superbly put together by Mood Foto on my Facebook Page . The forthcoming Jazz Jam, is sure to be very well supported whilst the number and ability level of the guest musicians continues to astound all who attend. There will, of course, be further jazz events at the Bakery in the coming months, including ‘An introduction to improvisation’ workshop that I will be leading in August, so watch this space.

April kicks off in fine style when Lucy O’Day and I along with Keith on Drums and Sam on Double Bass perform a set of our brand new original material at The Gylly Beach Cafe on Sunday 7th. We will also be joined by Sarah on Sax and Flute for what promises to be an entertaining show.

Following my successful recent solo gig at Charlie Franks, Plymouth, I was thrilled to be invited back to play during their Night On the Orient Express, evening in May. I am really looking forward to a return performance at this exclusive jazz venue. May also brings continued collaboration with saxophonist, Pete Canter. Pete and I can be heard at both the Bridge Jazz Club, in Exeter on 1st and also Bridport Arts in Dorset on 17th. The following month sees another new venture, when my trio will be supplying the music for the new Speakeasy Night to be held at The Old Library Bodmin on 1st June, although there will be more information on this one in the next newsletter.

The regular Sunday lunchtime jazz dates at The Headland Hotel continue and have now been extended until the end of May, when we will switch to Wednesday evenings for the summer season. I also remain resident at The Budock Vean Hotel playing a number of appearances during the week. For the very latest gig information be sure to check out the Bookings page as this continues to be regularly updated with any last minute engagements.

That is about all the news for now.

I hope to see you at a future gig.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
