New year, new website

simon latarche new website

Welcome to the first of my online newsletters

New website

It has been such a manic few months since leaving teaching. I am thrilled with this new website and huge thanks are due to Mike Harwood @harwoodcreative.co.uk for his inspiration and patience with me during the building process. I intend to regularly update it with the latest photos along with snippets of recordings and other info, so watch this space!

January saw the quartet’s first appearance at the Heligan Kitchen for Restormal Arts. It was great to see so many ‘old friends’ and some ‘not so old ‘ones too. Actually the place was packed! Many thanks to Phil Webb for organising it and the delightful review too.

The Simon Latarche Quartet delighted a capacity audience at the first of our concerts at Lost Gardens of Heligan in January. Mixing excellent originals by pianist Simon Latarche and saxophonist/flautist  Sarah McDonagh with a few well known standards – the quartet demonstrated their remarkable individual skills with a rock solid unity of purpose. Percussionist Keith Marshall and bassist James Rintoul, a formidable rhythm section, also shone on some inventive solos. The SLQ is certainly at the forefront of contemporary jazz ensembles in Cornwall, offering a special evening of accessible and rewarding jazz.”

I am in the process of updating the Simon Latarche email list. If you are not on it and would like to be please contact me through the website and I will add you.

My latest gigs will be regularly posted on this site too and are available for all to see on the Bookings page. Amongst the forthcoming engagements, I am currently working on a new venture. Featuring the original music of Pete Berryman; Pete, Keith Marshall and I are supplying the soundtrack to a production of ‘The Last Letter’ at Carnglaze Cavern in April … should be fun and something a little different.

Enquiries for the summer continue to come in thick and fast, with some exciting things ahead for later in the year……but more of this next time.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
