September……………. in the rain?

Welcome to my latest online newsletter.

As a busy summer season gradually draws to a close, there is time for me to catch my breath and reflect on a most enjoyable period. This month’s photo was taken during our recent gig and jam session at Lostwithiel Jazz Cafe . There was an excellent turnout and great to see many familiar faces from the The Old Bakery Studios jam sessions, along with many new contributors too. A thoroughly enjoyable and successful day was had by all and it was such a privilege to be involved in a very special weekend of jazz that resulted in nearly £4000 being raise for the Cornwall Air Ambulance appeal over the three days. Huge congratulations are due to Richard Bower for organising the event and we look forward to repeating the gig on the same weekend next year.

Our next jam at The Bakery will be on Sunday 6th October, however before then, we will be appearing there with another Friday evening jazz lounge on 20th September. Featuring the same ensemble from the terrific Blue Note evening, we will also be joined by two special guests, Gerry Gillard and Ella Julian. This event is likely to sell out quickly so to avoid disappointment I would recommend grabbing your tickets early. You can order yours by clicking here . If you missed our successful Blue Note tribute evening, or indeed if you fancy hearing more of the same, I am thrilled that we have been invited to perform this show for Restormal Arts in Charlestown on 20th November. More details next month.

The Wednesday duo evenings at The Headland Hotel continue until the middle of September if you fancy some late summer evening jazz, watching the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean. From Sunday the 22nd September, we will then switch back to playing during lunch from 1-3pm. Be sure to check out all my gigs at the Bookings page as this continues to be regularly updated with any last minute engagements. As always, I also remain resident at The Budock Vean Hotel making a number of appearances during the week. .

That is about all the news for now.

I hope to see you at a future gig.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
