Welcome to my latest online newsletter.
As the days shorten the summer is now well and truly over heralding the start of a programme of autumn dates. This month’s photo was taken at one such engagement, held recently at The Old Bakery where a packed crowd enjoyed a varied evening of jazz styles featuring our two special guests, Gerry Gillard and Ella Julian . As always we are extremely grateful to the venue for arranging the evening and to those who supported us. Our next event at The Bakery will be the regular jazz jam on Sunday 6th October, where people are invited to join in with Sam, Keith and I or simply grab a drink and listen to some fine local jazz musicians. If you would like to hear more from the trio, we will be performing an extra date on Wednesday lunchtime 9th October as part of the prom series at Truro Methodist Church, the concert will last for about forty minutes and admission is free.
September also saw our latest release recorded with Lucy O’Day, . The track, called Boringly Beautiful, is available on all digital platforms and can be heard on Spotify by clicking Here. Lucy and I continue to work on new material and have a number of exciting gigs in the diary for 2020, watch this space for further information.
Following our successful Blue Note tribute evening at The Old Bakery back in May, I am thrilled to announce that we have been invited to perform this show for Restormal Arts in Charlestown on 20th November. We welcome another opportunity to play more of our favourite Blue Note melodies, details will be available next month.
The Wednesday duo evenings at The Headland Hotel have now finished although we continue our residency at this beautiful Cornish venue on Sunday lunchtimes from 1-3pm. As always, I also remain resident at The Budock Vean Hotel making a number of appearances during the week. Be sure to check out all my gigs at the Bookings page as this continues to be regularly updated with any last minute engagements.
That is about all the news for now.
I hope to see you at a future gig.
Thanks for your support … as ever.
Simon
