The Heat Is On!

July

Welcome to my latest online newsletter.

I hope you are all enjoying the wonderful summer weather. This month’s photo was taken at our most successful recent gig at The Lemon Street Gallery Truro. We were all thrilled with the reception the new material Lucy O’Day, and I have produced. The band including Keith Marshall on Drums, Sam Norman on Bass and Sarah McDonough on Saxes and Flute were sounding really tight and we are excited about future developments with this music. We will be recording a couple of tracks in the next couple of weeks for Simon Nield at The Source FM . They will then be aired when Lucy and I appear on Simon’s programme in July. This will be available to listen to online, more details later. Our summer performance on 11th August at Penlee Park Theatre Penzance is fast approaching and promises to be super event. Due to Keith’s unavailability, I am delighted that my son Tristan will be joining the band on drums for the evening. Tickets for the evening can be bought online at Penlee Park Tickets, The ensemble will also be performing at The Burrell Theatre Truro School, in October. It will be particularly special for me to return to where I spent thirty four years of my teaching career. More details on this booking will appear in a later newsletter.

With the summer well under way, I am delighted to have received a number of invitations to play with other ensembles and musicians and look forward to performing with The Get Downs, The Swing Empire, Jeremy Huggett, Kevin Grenfell, and Paul Haywood at private functions and parties throughout the South West in the coming weeks.

Our summer Wednesday evenings at The Headland Hotel are now well underway and run until the end of August. So, if you fancy some jazz whilst watching the spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic Ocean it would be lovely to see you. My residency at The Budock Vean also continues with regular solo slots on both Tuesday and Saturday evening. Further details of any gigs are as usual, posted on the Bookings page which continues to be regularly updated with any last minute additions.

That is about all the news for now.

I hope to see you at a future gig.

Thanks for your support … as ever.

Simon
