Welcome to my latest online newsletter.
The summer season continues to be very busy with a number of different gigs throughout Cornwall. This month’s photo comes from a hastily arranged quartet appearance at The Lusty Pirate in Charlestown for Restormal Arts and I am delighted that Jazz has returned to the St Austell area once again. It was a pleasure to play with our special guest Mike Rowlands on saxophones and was very well received by the excellent crowd. We are now looking forward to giving another performance of our 80th Birthday Blue Note Celebration evening there in the autumn, so watch this space for more details.
The new video of our latest single, Lion, that we recorded with Lucy O’Day, is now available to view on my You Tube channel. Huge thanks are due to Gareth and all at Cube Studios Truro, for producing this for us.
In August we have two Sunday Jazz events that may be of interest. The first is The Jazz Jam at The Old Bakery Studios . On August 4th we will be marking one year of Jams at this venue and are really looking forward to celebrating this landmark with our friends at the bakery. The following weekend, Keith, Sam and I will be providing the house band for another event, this time as part of the Lostwithiel Jazz Cafe and will round of a weekend of quality gigs at this well respected venue. It will be held at Duchy Nurseries Lostwithiel. Admission is free and as usual, just turn up and listen or bring your instrument if you would like to join in with us.
The Wednesday duo evenings at The Headland Hotel will run until the middle of September and I am also playing a few additional solo dates there throughout August on Saturday evenings . For details of these and other dates be sure to check out the Bookings page as this continues to be regularly updated with any last minute engagements. As always, I also remain resident at The Budock Vean Hotel making a number of appearances during the week. .
That is about all the news for now.
I hope to see you at a future gig.
Thanks for your support … as ever.
Simon
