With summer approaching fast, things have got quite busy with twenty performances booked during the month of April. This month’s photo was taken at The Lemon Street Gallery in Truro during the launch of the superb Neil Canning exhibition that runs until the end of the month. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s well worth a visit. My gigs for both May and June are filling up fast too and the Bookings page continues to be regularly updated, so please feel free to take a look.
I was delighted to have been invited recently in to the Radio Cornwall Studios for a chat with Clare Rowley. If you missed the show the interview is available at the Radio Cornwall Website starting at 01:26:20 and will be available until the end of May. The performance of ‘The Last Letter’ featuring music by Pete Berryman and performed by The Life Dance Theatre Company at Carnglaze Caverns was a huge success and I hope to work with this talented group of young people again at some point in the future.
April also saw a new venue for me, playing with Jeremy Huggett’s Allsorts at The Old Duke in Bristol and am looking forward to a return visit on 1st May. If you are in the area, please pop down and say ‘hello’. Playing with Jeremy also sees me appearing at The Upton Jazz Festival Worcestershire on 23rd June. I am really looking forward to my first involvement in this well respected event, should be a lot of fun.
As the days lengthen, I have also now secured a summer season of piano/sax duos at The Headland Hotel, Newquay starting during Whitsun week and continuing on through every Wednesday evening in June, July and August. The summer sunsets from The Headland are spectacular, so if you fancy some chilled jazz in quality surroundings check out the latest dates on my Bookings page.
Hope to see you at a future gig.
Thanks for your support … as ever.
Simon
